A Herf and a Half

The brothers of GB213, a few extra friends, and I spent last weekend at CigarFest 2015 up at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, PA.  CigarFest is Cigars International’s big show for cigar afficiandos (at least on the East Coast).  A three hour drive from MD, we pleasantly headed up Friday afternoon to find camp well established and evening activities ready to begin.  The main event begins on Saturday morning with a tiered systems of tickets entering every few hours.  Upon entry, you receive a humidor containing 30 cigars and then a coupon book for one each of the 50+ cigars given away at booths inside the event.

Of course, one can purchase cigars, boxes, 5-packs, and samplers as well.  My friend, Steve, and I went in on a box of Rocky Patel Decades and even managed to get Rocky to sign the box. I don’t know diddly about cigars, so I won’t wax eloquent just yet, but I’ll mention a few initial favorites that I’ve managed to enjoy of the more than 100 cigars I managed to take home with me.

  1. La Aroma de Cuba El Jefe
  2. Olive Serie G
  3. Undercrown Manifesto – I didn’t smoke this one, but saw it in the wild.  Apparently, a rare thing!

2015-05-01 22.31.29I’m not yet too knowledagble about cigars, opting to go the enjoyment and experience route for the time being.   That’s really what the weekend was about:  getting out of town and trying something new with a great bunch of friend.  The fact is that the weather was great and we all made it home in one piece.  More on the rest of the lot of cigars themselves later.
